Day 9

Trekking to Namche Bazaar (3,441μ.) – 14km, 9 hrs.

Early morning departure once again, that time from the village of Pheriche to our already familiar destination, Namche Bazaar. The path of that day had nothing to do with the previous ones. It was moderate in difficulty, but unfortunately due to fatigue, my body was barely moving. Following a different route from that of the ascent, we passed through small settlements with colorful houses, up to Pangboche village and straight on the famous Tengboche monastery.

However, we didn’t have any interest in the surroundings anymore. Although the landscapes were very impressive, all we wanted was to get to our destination as quickly as possible. The basic room of our guesthouse “Comfort Inn” in Namche Bazaar, felt like a suite, compared to the hard conditions of the previous days.

Well here, at 3.400m., my nose finally stopped bleeding, after 4 full days!!

Day 10

Trekking to Lukla (2,804μ.) – 12km, 10 hrs.

One of the most painful days of the entire trekking tour, and probably the worst in terms of fatigue. The path was the same, as the first day on the Himalayas and it was difficult, anyway. However, that day, I was completely exhausted, with a serious knee issue, caused by the continuous trekking on rocks.

Well, we departed early in the morning, as usual. We passed through small villages, slopes, rivers and valleys. At one point, two of us, we stayed far behind. I couldn’t even feel my feet and I didn’t really know how I would reach my destination. Thankfully, the locals helped me on that. I rented a horse up to Phakding village and so, I was able to meet my group there, at lunchtime. After 10 hours in total, already in the blackness, me and my friend who had been left behind, managed to finally reach our guesthouse “Sunrise“, in Lukla, just before dinner.

Although exhausted, we were all extremely happy and proud we had finally accomplished our goal, for which, we had landed 2 weeks ago in Nepal, from different parts of the globe. And so, we made that last night of this epic adventure on the Himalayas unforgettable, with local dances until dawn!

Day 11

Flight Lukla – Ramechhap, last day in Kathmandu

Unfortunately (or fortunately), our tour has come to an end and it was time to say goodbye to the most dangerous airport in the world. Flying over the legendary mountain range for the last time, we kept on staring at those magnificent peaks, which gave us countless touching moments, and that once in a life time experience!

We used the airport of Ramechhap once again, since the runway of the capital was still closed due to constructions. 3 hours later, we arrived in Kathmandu by bus, right on time for one last stroll around the city center and our last dinner, all together as a group.

From the next day on, we would continue our lives separately, and all the wonderful memories of this special journey would stay with us forever!
